The EOS® scanner at Sydney Adventist Hospital captures whole body images of a standing patient in a single scan without any stitching or vertical distortion. Frontal and Lateral digital images of any length may be obtained simultaneously, with an outstanding image quality. It does this using approximately 15% of the radiation dose of conventional X-ray.

In order to access the brain, a temporary flap is made in the skull as small as is safely possible – this is called a craniotomy. Image guidance systems are almost always used to locate tumours, blood vessels and other lesions within the brain. Technology such as operating microscopes and endoscopes are routinely used.
